2012 College World Series Scores: Florida State Topples UCLA, 4-1

The Florida State Seminoles earned a date with the Arizona Wildcats on Thursday by defeating the UCLA Bruins 4-1 in an elimination game on Tuesday night in Omaha. FSU never trailed, and received a brilliant pitching performance from Scott Sitz to key the victory. Sitz finished the night by allowing five hits and one earned run over 6.2 innings while striking out eight. The Seminoles bullpen was just as dominant, as relievers Hunter Scantling and Robert Benincasa struck out three without allowing no hits over the final 2.1 innings.

First baseman Jayce Boyd finished 1-for-3 with an RBI in the win for the Seminoles. Catcher Stephen McGee and shortstop Justin Gonzalez also added RBIs in the win.

Left fielder Cody Keefer drove-in the lone run for the Bruins. UCLA starter Zack Weiss exited after getting just one out. Weiss allowed one hit, two walks and three earned runs during his short-lived start.
