2012 College World Series Scores: South Carolina Trails Arkansas, 2-1, After 5 Innings

The South Carolina Gamecocks have precious few innings remaining to prolong their 22-postseason-game and 12-game College World Series winning streaks on Monday night. The Gamecocks trail the Arkansas Razorbacks, 2-1, after five full innings of play.

South Carolina is showing signs of life, as that one run came in the fifth inning on an RBI triple to left center field by Evan Marzilli with two outs already recorded. L.B. Dantzler nearly tied the game with a ball to right field, but Brian Anderson awkwardly came up with the out on the batted ball.

Arkansas struck for its first run in the top of the first inning when first baseman Dominic Ficociello doubled home Tim Carver on a 3-0 pitched. Center fielder Matt Vinson singled in the other run in the fourth inning.

In the battle between Arkansas' Ryne Stanek and South Carolina's Colby Holmes, the former has allowed one run on three hits and three walks while the latter lasted 3.2 innings and allowed two runs on four hits.
