Webb Simpson has won the 2012 U.S. Open Championship at the Olympic Club in San Francisco with a four-round score of 1-over, defeating Michael Thompson's and Graeme McDowell's 2-over. Jim Furyk, who had entered the day at 1-unver and co-leader with McDowell, finished the tournament at 3-over.=
Simpson shot 2-under for the day, making four birdies and two bogeys. Those four birdies came at holes 6-8 and 10. Michael Thompson had the best round of the day with a 3-under 67.
Tiger Woods finished at 7-over for the tournament after shooting a 3-over 73. On his first three holes he went bogey, bogey and double bogey. After a par on the fourth hole, Woods made bogey on the next two holes. He went on to make three birdies to make the round a bit more acceptable, but this was far from the Tiger Woods everyone expects to show up and win another major title.
