It's do-or-die time for both the Stony Brook Seawolves and the Florida St. Seminoles in Game 5 of the College World Series on Sunday afternoon. Both teams lost on Friday, setting up the first of several elimination games over the next two weeks.
Stony Brook is looking to keep its underdog story alive after entering the tournament as a No. 4 regional seed. The UCLA Bruins clobbered the Seawolves, 9-1, in the opening game in Omaha on Friday. They will turn to Brandon McNitt (8-3, 2.50 ERA) for this game. Stony Brook faced elimination last weekend against LSU and bounced back with two straight wins to capture the Super Regional.
Florida St. went 12 innings with the Arizona Wildcats but ultimately fell, 4-3. Right-handed pitcher Mike Compton (11-2, 2.86 ERA) draws the start for the Seminoles. As a freshman pitcher, he has drawn a tough assignment on Sunday.
