2012 College World Series Scores: Arkansas Thrashes Kent St., 8-1

The Arkansas Razorbacks are in the winner's bracket of the 2012 College World Series after defeating the Kent St. Golden Flashes on Saturday afternoon, 8-1. This time the Razorbacks are on the opposite end of an 8-1 decision, opening Super Regional play last week with a loss to Baylor by the same score.

The Razorbacks struck for two runs over the first two innings, but the runs piled up starting after the fifth inning. Center fielder Matt Vinson hit a two-run double in the bottom of the sixth inning while three runs scored in the eighth inning. The first came on a wild pitch and the other two scored on a Jake Wise single. That was Wise's second and third RBI of the game, previously hitting a home run in the second inning.

Arkansas starter D.J. Baxendale threw 6.1 innings and allowed one run on a Jimmy Ride in the sixth inning. Kent St. starter David Starn battled his way through 5.2 innings, but he walked six and gave up five runs.

Arkansas will play the winner of Saturday night's contest between South Carolina and Florida on Monday. Kent State will play the loser of South Carolina-Florida on Monday in an elimination game.
