Tiger Woods will tee off in the third round of the 2012 U.S. Open on Saturday well within striking distance of his first major title since 2008, and that prospect is as much a boon to golf fans as it is television executives. Tied with Woods atop the leaderboard are a few familiar faces, including 2003 U.S. Open winner Jim Furyk and one-time major champion David Toms.
The tournament's other major storyline is the top ten placement of amateur Beau Hossler, the 17-year-old who is tied for ninth at three over par, along with golfers like Hunter Mahan and Matt Kuchar.
Woods is in the final group with Furyk, and the two will tee off at 2:05 p.m. CT.
