2012 NCAA Baseball Tournament: Florida, N.C. State In A Rain Delay

Poor weather conditions persist in the South and that has affected the Florida-N.C. State NCAA Baseball Tournament Super Regional game on Sunday afternoon. Before the start of the bottom of the third inning, rain, thunder and lightning forced a delay of the game and the tarp to be put over the infield. The score is tied at zero.

The delay went into effect at 11:37 a.m. MT, which means that it is likely the pitchers' duel between Florida's Jonathon Crawford, he of the no-hitter against Bethune-Cookman in his last outing, and N.C. State's Carlos Rodon has come to an end. Both had yet to surrender a hit before play came to a halt.

UPDATE: It appears both pitchers will stay in when play resumes.

UPDATE II: Play will resume at 2:00 p.m. MT.

UPDATE III: Or possibly Karsten Whitson will pitch for the Gators. Rodon, however, is done.

Former Colorado Rockies draftee and current Florida Gators outfielder Preston Tucker is the only baserunner, having reached on an error in the top of the first inning.

There is no word yet on when play will resume.
