The LSU Tigers are one victory away from the 2012 College World Series. Their opponent, the Stony Brook Seawolves, is also one win away from making it to the final round of the 2012 NCAA Baseball Tournament. On Sunday, the two teams clash in a winner-take-all contest of this best-of-three series.
LSU took Game 1, 5-4 in 12 innings, on Saturday morning with the help of Colorado native Kevin Gausman. The No. 4 overall pick threw 12 pitches in the top of the 12th and picked up the victory. He then started Game 2 roughly 50 minutes later. He went seven innings and allowed three runs in a 3-1 loss to Stony Brook. His opposing number, Tyler Johnson, threw a complete game three-hitter.
On Sunday, the Tigers will start sophomore Ryan Eades (5-2, 3.55 ERA) while Stony Brook's pitcher is still to be determined. Eades was drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the 19th round of the 2010 MLB Draft and opted for Baton Rouge.
