On Saturday night, the Denver Outlaws will face off against the Chesapeake Bayhawks in Major League Lacrosse action. The Bayhawks and Outlaws are both 3-1, tied for second place in the league behind the 4-0 Boston Cannons.
The Outlaws will look like a new team this week, with three new rookies- Mark Matthews from the Denver Pioneers, Drew Snider from Maryland and Colin Briggs from Virginia. Briggs won an NCAA championship two seasons ago while Snider has seen the losing end of the last two.
Denver has been a surprise team this season, in a year when all of the experts saw them as rebuilding. They traded away top players like Drew Westervelt, Billy Bitter, Brian Langtry and others for just prospects and draft picks. They have seen players like Jeremy Sieverts and Terry Kimminer step up for career years.
The Outlaws should have midfielder Peet Poillon back for the game, as he missed the loss to Boston with a cut on his hand. He is a former Bayhawk, having been traded to Denver before last season. Westervelt, now on the Bayhawks, will be playing in his first game against his former team.
This is a battle for second place. You will be able to watch the game on ESPN3.com
