Giro d'Italia 2012 Standings: Taylor Phinney Maintains Maglia Rosa Lead Despite Crash

The 2012 Giro d'Italia will take a rest day on Tuesday before resuming things in Italy for the remainder of the race. Boulder's own Taylor Phinney (BMC Racing) still holds the Maglia Rosa (pink jersey) after three stages in Denmark with a 9:24:31 mark, nine seconds better than Britain's Geraint Thomas. However, Phinney's ankle was injured during a crash toward the end of Monday's Stage 3 finish. He was able to finish the race, but his status going forward is not yet known.

Alex Rasmussen of Boulder's Gamin-Barracuda is still in third place, 13 seconds behind Phinney. Teammate Ramunas Navardauskas is in fifth place and 18 seconds behind Phinney.

The rest of Garmin-Barracuda is within the top 51 spots with Peter Stetina taking the 51st spot at 45 seconds behind Phinney. Tyler Farrar and Robert Hunter are just outside the top 10 with a 28-second gap ahead of them (two seconds outside of the top 10).
