Kentucky Derby 2012: I'll Have Another Wins First Leg Of Triple Crown

The 138th running of the Kentucky Derby has crowned I'll Have Another as the winner of the first leg of the Triple Crown. I'll Have Another began in the 19th slot and had Mario Gutierrez as the jockey. I'll Have Another was a 12/1 favorite to win this race while Bodemeister was 5/1.

Bodemeister led for much of the race until I'll Have Another made a late charge during the final 100 yards of the race. Trinniberg had been neck and neck with Bodemeister up until I'll Have Another picked things up from seventh place and defeated all 19 other horses. See how I'll Have Another (the name's about having an extra cookie) did it in this video:

I'll Have Another will head to the Preakness Stakes as a favorite to win it on May 19.

Here are the win, place and show horses:

WIN: I'll Have Another
PLACE: Bodemeister
SHOW: Dullahan
