Kentucky Derby 2012: SB Nation's Matt Gardner Analyzes The Post Positions

The post position in which a horse starts the 2012 Kentucky Derby can have a significant effect on its chances in the race, and now that we know all of the post positions, the analysis can begin. In the video below, Matt Gardner of SB Nation horse racing blog And Down The Stretch They Come talks a bit about the pros and cons of certain starting positions and discusses which horses benefited from a good draw, and which ones ended up in less-than-ideal positions.

Bodemeister and Union Rags, two of the favorites in this year's race, are among the horses with disadvantageous starting positions, according to Gardner.
