For the second consecutive race, I'll Have Another put his remarkable closing speed on display, as he rallied down the stretch to win the 2012 Preakness and set up an enticing Belmont Stakes. Just as he did down the stretch at the 2012 Kentucky Derby, I'll Have Another passed Bodemeister, who looked like he was in position to get revenge for the loss at The Derby.
I'll Have Another will have the opportunity to become the first horse since Affirmed in 1978 to win the Triple Crown. However, I'll Have Another will have to overcome recent history, as 11 other horses since Affirmed in 1978 have entered the Belmont Stakes with the opportunity to earn a spot in the record books. The last horse to have the opportunity to win the Triple Crown was Big Brown back in 2008.
