Although Colorado St. alum Martin Laird has just started his round, he has to be encouraged by some of the low scores that have been played in the third round of the 2012 Players Championship, as guys like Rickie Fowler, Jhonattan Vegas and Sergio Garcia have put together impressive rounds.
Fowler has been the story of the third round thanks to his scorching play. Through nine holes, Fowler is shooting -4 and has moved into a tie for 4th and is just one stroke behind the leaders, who sit at -8. Vegas caught fire early as well, shooting -3 through his first 10 holes to move into a tie for 12th at -5. Garcia shot -4 this afternoon to move into a tie for 16th.
With Zach Johnson, Kevin Na and Matt Kuchar set to tee off, it will be interesting to see if the leaders heading into the third round can capitalize on strong playing conditions and maintain their lead heading into the final round.
