The 2012 Giro d'Italia has a new leader in the general classification. Adriano Malori is the new leader after finishing Stage 6 in second place, behind only Miguel Rubiano. Rubiano won Friday's mountain stage and is now fourth overall. Malori leads the race at 20:25:28 with a 15-second gap keep his nearest competitor at bay.
After occupying the top three spots after Stage 5, Garmin-Barracuda was able to maintain just the third spot with Ryder Hesjedal 17 seconds behind. Michal Golas is in second place.
Christian Vande Velde (No. 5, +0:32) and Peter Stetina (No. 7, +0:37) are the only other Garmin racers in the top 10.
Stage 7 on Saturday stays in the mountains with a ride from Recanati to Rocca di Cambio.
