Martin Laird isn't exactly a favorite to win the 2012 Masters Tournament, but the Scottish golfer believes that he's got what it takes to wear the Green Jacket on Sunday, as Ed Watson writes for The Daily Mail. As Watson explains, Laird isn't considered the golfer with the prettiest form and he's never won a major, but confidence isn't lacking in the 29-year-old.
Of all four majors, the Masters is the one which suits my game best. If I’m to win a major one day, this is where I think it’ll be... Augusta is a course where if you can hit the ball in high, and stop your long and mid-irons quickly, it’s definitely an advantage. The way it is set up these days suits the longer hitters and, when my game is on, I’m also one of the straighter players on tour.
The last Scot to win a major was Paul Lawrie at the 1999 Open Championship. Laird, currently ranked No. 35 in the world, competed in his first Masters Tournament last year, tying for 20th in his debut.
