While the Colorado Buffaloes and the Colorado St. Rams wait to play in their respective conferences in order to gain a bid to the NCAA Tournament, the Colorado School of Mines Orediggers are already going dancing at the Division II level. They obtained a No. 1 seed in the tournament and will host the Central Region Tournament as well as enter being the No. 1 team in the Coaches Poll, which came out on Tuesday.
The Orediggers will face the No. 8 Augustana (S.D.) Vikings on Saturday at Lockridge Arena in Golden, CO, on Saturday, March 10. The winner will face the victor of No. 4 Southwest Minnesota St.-No. 5 Minnesota St.-Moorhead on March 11.
The Division II Tournament is set up differently than the Division I Tournament in that there are eight regions and that is how the tournament is broken down. There are eight different regional hosts, which means that the emphasis is shifted to the Elite Eight rather than the Final Four that we have on the Division I level.
