Avalanche Vs. Sharks Score Update: Game Remains Scoreless After One Period

The Colorado Avalanche and San Jose Sharks both generated plenty of quality scoring chances during the first period tonight, but the game will head into the second in a scoreless tie. The Avs out-shot the Sharks 11-10 in the period, even though San Jose had two power play chances to Colorado's one.

Colorado has 15 hits, compared to nine for San Jose. The Sharks won 11 faceoffs, while the Avs won nine.

Each game looms large for the Avs from here on out, particularly this one. If the playoffs started today, Cololorado would be watching from home. The Avs, Sharks, and Los Angeles Kings all have 86 points. The Phoenix Coyotes are in seventh place in the conference with 87 points.
