Flames Vs. Avalanche Score Update: Colorado-Calgary Tied 1-1 After 1st Period

Points will be a premium from here on out for the Colorado Avalanche, and tonight the team is playing a squad hoping to upend them from the Western Conference playoff picture, the Calgary Flames. After one period at the Pepsi Center, the Avalanche and Flames are tied 1-1.

Matt Stajan scored his eighth goal of the season for the Flames to get the scoring started. Paul Stastny evened things for Colorado when he scored his 19th goal of the season off assists from Shane O'Brien and David Jones.

The Avalanche have won four of their last five games and are currently in fighting for one of the final two spots in the Western Conference playoffs. There are five teams vying for two spots, and at the moment, Colorado, with 83 points, has the 8th spot locked down, holding a one-point advantage over the Los Angeles Kings and San Jose Sharks, and a two-point lead over the Flames.
