NCAA Div. II Tournament Bracket: Metro State Reaches Elite Eight Following Upset Over No. 1 Colorado School Of Mines

The No. 2 Metro State Roadrunners (25-6) will continue their run through the NCAA Division II Tournament when they take on No. 1 Montevallo in an Elite Eight contest in Kentucky. The Roadrunners upset the No. 1 Colorado School of Mines Orediggers on Tuesday night, 73-64, to win the Central Region portion of the bracket.

The Roadrunners were once again led by Reggie Evans and Demetrius Miller -- the former scoring 22 points and pulling down nine rebounds, the latter with 21 points. Miller and Brandon Jefferson sank six of the team's 12 three-point attempts, Jefferson scoring nine of his 17 points on them. Overall, the team shot 50 percent from the field.

For the School of Mines, Dale Minschwaner scored 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, but the team shot just 36.7 percent from the field. The Roadrunners forced the Orediggers into an early 13-0 hole, which made them play catch-up for most of the game. Mines did take a one-point lead late in the first half, but it was all too fleeting.

Head over to Metro State's wrap-up for more on this game. The Roadrunners will take the court against Montevallo next Wednesday at the Bank of Kentucky Center in Highland Heights, Ky., for a shot at the Final Four.
