Honda decided to pay homage to Ferris Bueller's Day Off in this advertisement for its new CR-V, which includes Matthew Broderick spending a day much like Ferris did over 25 years ago. Broderick has a day that closely parallels Ferris' classic fake sick day, but much of it feels a bit forced. The advertisement is littered with references to the movie from start to finish, and the more subtle instances work better than the direct references where, for example, Broderick is repeating lines verbatim from the original.
