2011 NFL Coach Of The Year: Denver Broncos Head Coach John Fox Finishes Third

After beginning the season 2-5, few people expected that the Denver Broncos would be on their way to the playoffs. However, the Broncos rallied behind a punishing defense and a few memorable moments from Tim Tebow, to win the AFC West and advance to the postseason. According to Patrick Smyth of the Denver Broncos, this remarkable turnaround was enough to help head coach John Fox finish third in the Coach of the Year voting:

@psmyth12: Broncos HC John Fox finishes 3rd in voting for AP Coach of the Year. Helped team to 5-win improvement in 1st year.

In his first season in the Mile High City, Fox made an immediate impact, as the Broncos won five more games then they had in the previous season. Fox and his coaching staff did an excellent job building an aggressive defense and an offense perfectly suited for the skill set of Tebow. Fox finished by Jim Harbaugh of the San Francisco 49ers and Mike McCarthy of the Green Bay Packers.
