Avalanche Vs. Blue Jackets Score Update: Colorado Ahead 1-0 After 1st Period

It took a little while, but the Colorado Avalanche finally got on the scoreboard against the Western Conference-worst Blue Jackets on Friday night. David Jones scored a goal with less than 30 seconds remaining in the opening period to give Colorado its 1-0 edge. It was Jones' 13th goal of the season.

The Blue Jackets actually out-shot Colorado 9-5, and they've had the only power play opportunity of the game so far. The Avalanche won six of 10 faceoffs in the period, while Columbus out-hit Colorado by a 14-10 margin.

Colorado can pull into a tie with Calgary for second place in the Northwest Division with a win.
