Avalanche Vs. Kings Score Update: Colorado Takes 4-0 Lead Into Third Period

The Colorado Avalanche trail the Los Angeles Kings in the Western Conference standings, but the Avs are leaving no doubt as to who the better team is tonight at the Pepsi Center. Colorado leads LA 4-0 after two periods in a game highlighted by a stellar effort from Avs goalie Semyon Varlamov. The Kings are actually out-shooting Colorado 24-22 through the first two periods, but Varlamov has kept LA off the scoreboard entirely.

Colorado took a 3-0 lead into the second period and pushed it 4-0 when Paul Stastny beat Kings goalie Jason Quick for his second score of the night. Statsny's 16th goal of the season was set up by teammates Gabriel Landeskog and Matt Duchene.

The second period got a bit chippy with seven total penalties being handed out. Colorado's Chuck Kobasew and LA's Jordan Nolan each drew 10 minute game misconduct penalties.
