The Colorado Girls Class 5A Swimming and Diving Championships continue on Saturday afternoon, and Regis Jesuit junior Missy Franklin will of course be the main storyline of the competition. On Friday, Franklin set a record for high schoolers with a 1-minute, 43.98 second swim in the 200-yard freestyle.
Tickets for Saturday's event sold out online last weekend, but, as the Denver Post link from above mentions, if one shows up to Edora Pool Ice Center in Fort Collins early enough it might be possible to snag one of the 100 tickets being sold at the door. It's certainly something one should try to do on Saturday afternoon, and attendees will be able to watch Franklin compete in not just the 200-yard freestyle but also the 400-yard freestyle relay and other events.
Franklin has already qualified for the June Olympic qualifiers and should have no troubles there, allowing her to compete in London this summer. The 5A championships are another warmup on the way to the Olympics.
ESPN3.com will stream this event, which will be watched here at 2:00 p.m. MT.
