Hoping to exact a bit of revenge after being eliminated by the Bearkats in the postseason last year, the Montana State Bobcats will welcome Sam Houston State to the great state of Montana on Friday for an FCS quarterfinal showdown.

The Bobcats yielded a whopping 428 rushing yards to Sam Houston State in last year's 49-13 quarterfinal loss, but will enter Friday's game as a home favorite after an impressive 11-1 campaign. One of three schools to finish with a 7-1 conference record in the Big Sky this season, Montana State used a strong defensive performance to slide past Stony Brook, 16-10, in its first postseason game last Saturday.

Unranked in the postseason field following a 9-3 season that featured a pair of losses to Division I FBS opponents, the Bearkats recently scored 28 points against a BCS-bound Texas A&M team on the road. Although the Bearkats allowed Cal Poly to convert 12 of 20 third-down opportunities over the weekend, Sam Houston State still managed to pull out an 18-16 victory to keep its title hopes alive.
