NBA scores: Denver splits weekend

The Nuggets win in Indiana, but lose in New York.

Kirby Lee-US PRESSWIRE

The Denver Nuggets saw their weekend end in a split with a 112-106 loss to the Knicks at Madison Square Garden on Sunday night. The Knicks are still perfect at home at 8-0 after Sunday night, making them the last team in the NBA to avoid a home loss.

Denver's loss comes just two nights after the Nuggets went to Indianapolis and knocked off the host Pacers 92-89 when Indiana could not get off a tying shot at the end of the game. SB Nation's Denver Stiffs saw this as a positive step forward as they Nuggets reached the quarter pole of the season:

Andre Miller finished with 15 points and 8 assists, but that doesn't tell the whole story. When the Nuggets offense was bogging down with three minutes left in the fourth quarter, Miller provided the offensive spark that put the Nuggets up by 7 points in a flash ... scoring 8 of his 15 points in that stretch. It was shades of Philadelphia last season. Without Dre, the Nuggets may not come away with a victory tonight.

Denver's Sunday night loss saw the Nuggets struggle defensively in the second and fourth quarters. Of the 112 points given up Denver gave up 38 in the second quarter and 32 in the fourth quarter to the Knicks.
