No. 19 Boise State leads San Diego State, 13-7, as the Broncos recovered from a poor start to control most of the first half on Saturday night.
Trailing 7-0 just seconds into the game following a 100-yard touchdown return on the opening kickoff, the Broncos rebounded by scoring on the next possession thanks to a one-yard touchdown run by D.J. Harper. The San Diego State offense would sputter, failing on a fourth-down conversion and punting on consecutive drives.
Boise State would take advantage, capping off a 92-yard drive with Harper's second touchdown run of the half. The Aztec offense, after moving the ball into Boise State territory, would stall once more and be forced to punt in the final seconds of the first half.
Broncos quarterback Joe Southwick is 8-of-12 for 70 yards and no touchdowns, while Harper has added 78 yards and two touchdowns on the ground on 15 carries. Boise State has outgained San Diego State, 176-96) while going 2-for-2 on fourth down.
