The 2012 FCS Playoff Tournament completed first round action on Saturday and now the Big Sky Conference's Eastern Washington Eagles (No. 2 overall seed) and Montana State Bobcats (No. 3) know their second-round opponents on Dec .1: the Wagner Seahawks and the Stony Brook Seawolves. A third Big Sky team, the Cal Poly Mustangs, also had a bye, but they had been paired against the Sam Houston State Bearkats when the initial bracket was announced last week.
Wagner (8-3) defeated Colgate, 31-20, in a contest that saw quarterback Nick Doscher complete 11-of-19 passes for 95 yards with two touchdowns passes and rush for 95 yards and a touchdown. Dominique Williams added 106 yards rushing yards and the other touchdown.
Stony Brook (9-2) took care of Villanova, 20-10, to advance. Nova had no answer for the Seawolves ground game. Miguel Maysonet rushed for 160 yards and two touchdowns, while Marcus Coker gained 107 yards on the ground.
In other action, South Dakota State dominated Eastern Illinois, 58-10, to play No. 1 overall seed and defending national champion North Dakota State. Coastal Carolina took care of Bethune-Cookman, 24-14, to set up a showdown with No. 4 overall seed Old Dominion.
