The Montana State Bobcats claimed victory in the 2012 Brawl of the Wild with a 16-7 victory over the Montana Grizzlies at Washington-Grizzly Stadium in Missoula, Mont. The Bobcats closed out the regular season with a 10-1 record and will look to claim one of the top seeds in the FCS Tournament field, which will be announced on Sunday afternoon.

The Bobcats opened the scoring late in the first quarter on Rory Perez's 42-yard field goal, but the Grizzlies closed out the quarter with a 7-3 lead following running back Peter Nguyen's 47-yard rushing touchdown. The Grizzlies' offense was shutout after that.

The only Bobcat touchdown of the game came in the second quarter when quarterback DeNarius McGhee found Kruiz Siewing for a 16-yard striking, putting the score at 10-7. Perez added field goals of 38 and 22 yards in the third and fourth quarters.

McGhee finished the game 26-of-47 for 247 yards with one touchdown pass and one interception. He also ran for 46 yards on 10 carries. Running back Cody Kirk carried the ball 22 times for 55 yards. Montana's Nguyen rushed for 112 yards on 13 carries.

Montana finished the season a disappointing 5-6. It was a tumultuous year that involved the dismissal of head coach Robin Pflugrad in March after -- though not explicitly stated -- a series of sexual assault cases involving members of the football team came to the forefront.
