The Denver Pioneers scored 10 goals in two games this weekend as they were able to sweep Michigan Tech to move to 4-0 on the 2012-13 season. Saturday's 5-2 victory over Michigan Tech completed the sweep thanks to five goals from five different players.
Quentin Shore gave Denver a 1-0 lead on a goal at the 12:14 mark of the first period, but Michigan Tech evened things up a short time later on a short-handed goal from Dennis Rix. Less than two minutes after Rix's goal David Makowski scored on the power play to give Denver the lead for good.
The 2-1 lead after one period was quickly pushed to 5-1 thanks to goals from Joey LaLeggia in the second period and from Shawn Ostrow and Daniel Doremus in the third period. Rix would notch a second goal in the third period for Michigan Tech.
Nick Shore added two assists on Saturday for Denver.
