Connor Wood battling inconsistency in practice

Colorado Buffaloes sophomore quarterback Connor Wood is having consistency problems in practice.

Quarterback Connor Wood is having trouble being consistent enough in practice to earn more playing time for the Colorado Buffaloes.

Colorado coach Jon Embree admitted his sophomore play-caller needs to keep improving in his weekly press conference on Tuesday. Embree wouldn't touch on specifics, but mentioned Wood needs to continue being consistent.

This season, Wood has seen action in three games but hasn't played for long periods that would allow him to get a rhythm. His best performance was in a blowout loss to USC where he completed 4-of-6 passes for 23 yards. Wood, however, struggled in his longest outing against Fresno State, completing only 5-of-15 passes and tossing two interceptions.

The Buffs offense in general has had a rough time putting up points recently, averaging a little more than 12 points per game in the last three contests. The road doesn't get any easier for Colorado, who faces a stout defense in Stanford following the Ducks.
