Something had to give at the Rolle Activity Center ub Flagstaff, Arizona on Monday. Northern Arizona entered as losers of eight straight. Northern Colorado had dropped four of their last five games. But while the two teams' records might not be pretty, the Bears and Lumberjacks gave fans a thrilling overtime game that ended with Northern Colorado coming out victorious with a 64-62 victory.
The game reached overtime when Northern Colorado's Tevin Svihovec converted a layup with :13 seconds remaining to tie the game at 56. The Bears would prevail in overtime when the Lumberjacks' James Douglas missed a potential game-tying jumper.
Northern Colorado improved to 7-13 and 4-5 in the Big Sky thanks to a stellar performance from sophomore center Emmanuel Addo off the bench. Addo scored a team-high 17 points on 6-of-7 shooting and added five rebounds. Guard Tate Unruh scored 16 points and Tevin Svihovec finished with 11 to help pace the Bears' offense.
The Northern Arizona Lumberjacks were led by James Douglas, who scored a game-high 22.
