Avalanche Vs. Kings Final Score: Colorado Defeats Los Angeles In Shootout, 2-1

A late goal by Ryan O'Reilly in the third period to tie the game helped spark the Colorado Avalanche in Monday's contest against the Los Angeles Kings. The Avalanche wound up winning the game, 2-1, in a shootout.

The Kings first got on the board in the second period with a goal by Dustin Brown at 1:34 off the clock, which ended more than a period of scoreless play. And it looked like the Kings were going to take the victory until O'Reilly tied the game at one with a little over five minutes left in the game.

After a scoreless overtime period, things went to a shootout. After Jarret Stoll missed the first attempt, Milan Hejduk netted a goal against Jonathan Quick. The Kings missed their next two shots, giving the Avalanche the 1-0 advantage in the shootout and the 2-1 victory.

The Avalanche (22-18-1, 45 points) visit the Chicago Blackhawks on Friday.
