Winter X Games 2012 Update: Shaun White Qualifies For Superpipe Finals

After missing out on the Slopestyle competition because of an injury suffered in practice, many fans were wondering if Shaun White would be able to compete for his fifth consecutive gold medal in the Superpipe competition. However, White was able to put any concerns about his health to rest, as he had the highest score of the elimination round and was one of eight to advance to the finals of the event that he has dominated the past four years.

White will be joined in the finals by Luke Mitrani, Ryo Aono, Matt Ladley, Greg Bretz, Iouri Podladtchikov, Louie Vito and Christian Haller. White is the most decorated athlete in Winter X Games history, having won 16 medals, with 11 of those being gold. If White is able to earn the gold medal, it would be his seventh overall in the Superpipe, as he also won gold in 2003 and 2006.
