The 2012 Winter X Games gave out its first gold medal to Kaya Turski in the women's ski stopestyle on Thursday afternoon. The men ran the ski slopestyle elimination round earlier in the day and Nick Goepper took first place with this run:
Goepper starts with a switch double and eventually goes on to include a double cork 1260 followed by a high mute grab and adds a double cork mute grab that ends with a Japan grab. He lands perfectly and receives a 93.33 score on his first run, which was the best run of the day in the elimination round by one full point.
At 17, Goepper is the only rookie and the youngest competitor in the field.
