2012 Winter X Games: Kaitlyn Farrington Out For Gold After 2011 Silver Medal

Kaitlyn Farrington bested many of the top female snowboards in the 2011 Winter X Games to take the silver medal. Kelly Clark took the gold medal at last year's games, which leaves plenty of incentive for Farrington to redouble her effort this year. It was her first medal after failing to pick one up in her first three years at the Games, finishing fifth and in eight twice.

The 22-year-old native of Sun Valley, ID, has previously won gold in other competitive events, including overall standings in halfpipe on the Winter Dew Tour and in individual competitions at the West Dover and Copper Mountain.

Farrington's silver medal at last year's Winter X Games saw her accomplish a backside 900 and an inverted alley oop on this run. What will she have ready for 2012?
