Winter X Games 2012: Halldor Helgason Looks To Win Big Air Gold Again

The 2012 Winter X Games are just around the corner with Buttermilk Mountain filling with the world's top winter athletes. One such athlete to pay close attention to is the young Icelandic snowboarder Halldor Helgason.

Helgason enters the 2012 X Games with a gold metal already in his trophy case, the 21-year-old snowboarder having won the Winter X Big Air competition in 2010. He has also placed in the top 10 of the Winter X Big Air and Slopestyle competitions for the last two years.

In addition to sliding on snow, Halldor also does his fair share of grinding on metal, placing first in the 2010 Gothenburg Rail Battler in Sweeden.

Halldor also participates with his brother, Eiki Helgason, in producing content and movies for their snowboarding blog/vlog, including this entry in the Real Snow video contest for ESPN:
