Northern Colorado Vs. Montana State: Bears Try To Make A Move In The Big Sky

The Northern Colorado Bears (6-11, 3-3) look to push their conference record over .500 against the Montana State Bobcats (9-8, 4-2) on Saturday night.

The Northern Colorado Bears have lost six of their last nine games, but look to rebound and gain some traction in the Big Sky Conference when they take on the Montana State Bobcats on Saturday night. The bears lack a consistent scoring threat and instead operate an offense-by-committee approach that ranks 45th in the nation in field goal percentage at 47.3 percent. Northern Colorado's three leading scorers are Paul Garnica, Tate Unruh and Mike Proctor, but no player averages even 11 points per game.

After dropping four straight games in the middle of December, the Bobcats have steadied the ship and have won four of their last five contests. Montana State also loves to spread the ball around on offense, as leading scorers Xavier Blount and Christian Moon only average 11.9 and 11.1 points respectively, but they aren't as efficient as Norther Colorado -- they rank 166th in the nation in field goal percentage at 43.7 percent. Nothing in particular stands out as an overt strength for the Bobcats, but their recent stretch of quality play likely gives them the edge heading into the matchup.
