Norv Turner May Yet Survive In San Diego

Not so fast on the final demise of Norv Turner as San Diego Chargers head coach. Turner's imminent dismissal from San Diego might not be so imminent, after all. There is some reluctance inside the Chargers' front office to fire Turner and general manager A.J. Smith, reports Clark Judge of CBS Sports. One factor, possibly the most important one, is that firing either or both of Turner and Smith would still result in the team paying them the remaining money on their contracts. The dollar rears its head again.

Plus, Philip Rivers is lobbying for the Chargers to keep Turner, according to Judge. An angry Rivers over the firing of Turner is not something team president Dean Spanos would want to deal with. So, we sit and wait to find out if Spanos will keep Turner and Smith.
