The Colorado Avalanche continue to trail against the Nashville Predators after two periods at the Pepsi Center, but they've cut the lead to 3-1. The Avalanche were finally able to get onto the scoreboard, but the Predators maintain most of the lead that they accumulated during an impressive run in the first period.
One place where the Avalanche did show some signs of life was their ability to get shots on goal. After being dominated in that category in the first period, Colorado got 18 shots on goal in the second period compared to just six shots on goal by Nashville.
Ryan O'Reilly finally was able to take advantage of that volume late in the second period, scoring his 11th goal of the season to trim the lead to 3-1. Both teams had short power plays in the second period, but neither was able to score during its respective opportunity.
