Norv Turner 'All But Certain To Be Fired' Once Season Ends

Norv Turner's six-year stint as San Diego Chargers head coach is expected to come to an end in the coming week. The Chargers can finish 8-8 with a victory on Sunday, but a postseason spot is not possible.

Norv Turner's reign as the San Diego Chargers' head coach appears to have just one game left to be played out. Turner is expected to be relieved of his head coaching duties soon after Sunday's game against the Oakland Raiders, according to Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune:

Norv Turner, the man whose winning percentage is tied as the highest among the 14 head coaches the Chargers have ever employed, is all but certain to be fired next week.

Acee points out that team president Dean Spanos has openly said that his coach needs to be evaluated and that this decision has been long in the making. According to Acee's sources, Spanos is listening to the fans, who have long called for Turner's ouster.

Turner is 48-31 in six seasons as the Chargers' head coach but just 3-3 in the playoffs (no postseason game since the 2009 season). The Chargers are 7-8 heading into the final week of the season.
