The Colorado St. Rams picked up their first verbal football commit for the 2012 class in Texas defensive end Deonte Wortham. Wortham committed to the Rams on Aug. 31 over offers he had from Arizona State, and Memphis.
Here is what Wortham said about his commitment:
"I wanted to go to a new environment and experience something new," he said. "I wanted to see how it feels to be in another city. I also think it's a team on the rise and I want to help them get better and everything.

"I think they want me to play linebacker," he said, "but I'm not for sure just yet. I'm playing defensive end and d-tackle this year but I know I can make the move to linebacker if they want me to."
Wortham was recruited by defensive back coach Tim Duffie and was a main reason he committed to Colorado State. According to the major recruiting services Wortham is a two-star prospect across the board.
