While the likes of UCLA and Washington faced off against Top 25 teams, the Oregon Ducks and the California Golden Bears played cupcake teams this week and the results show in both scenarios. Arizona State had its hands full with Illinois and ultimately let things slip away.
No. 23 Texas Longhorns (3-0) def. UCLA Bruins (1-2), 49-20 - Case McCoy threw touchdown passes and Malcolm Brown had 110 yards on the ground. UCLA's Rick Neuheisel is not happy.
No. 11 Nebraska Cornhuskers (3-0) def. Washington Huskies (2-1, 51-38 - Keith Price threw four touchdown passes and Chris Polk piled up 130 yards and one touchdown on the ground, but Nebraska's defense wasn't as porous as Washington's.
No. 12 Oregon Ducks (2-1) def. Missouri State Bears (1-2), 56-7 - After Missouri State scored first, the Ducks had 56 unanswered points. LaMichael James rushed for 204 yards and three touchdowns.
California Golden Bears (3-0) def. Presbyterian Blue Hose (1-2), 63-12 - Jeff Tedford became the winningest coach in Cal history and received a Gatorade bath.
San Diego St. Aztecs (3-0) def. Washington St. Cougars (2-1), 42-24 - Ronnie Hillman rushed for over 190 yards and found the end zone four times, including two runs in a 21-point fourth quarter by the Aztecs. Cougars quarterback Marshall Lobbestael had 368 passing yards and three touchdown passes, but two interceptions as well.
Illinois Fighting Illini (3-0) def. No. 22 Arizona St. Sun Devils (2-1), 17-14 - The Sun Devils were down at halftime, 10-7, but took the lead on a Brock Osweiler run in the fourth quarter. Nathan Scheelhaase delivered the game-winning 16-yard touchdown pass with 10 minutes left in the game.
USC Trojans (3-0) def. Syracuse Orange (2-1), 38-17 - Matt Barkley threw five touchdown passes in the victory. This was never a close game.
Utah Utes (2-1) def. BYU Cougars (1-2), 54 -10 - The Utes outscored the Cougars 40-0 in the second half in one of the largest margins of victories in this rivalries history. John White rushed for 174 yards and scored three touchdowns, and the Utah defense forced seven turnovers and scoring two for touchdowns.
No. 6 Stanford Cardinal (2-0) def. Arizona Wildcats (1-1), 37-10 - Stanford scored the final 24 points to put away Arizona to improve to 2-0. Andrew Luck passed for 325 yards and two touchdowns while running back Stepfan Taylor rushed for 153 yards.
