Boise St. Broncos quarterback Kellen Moore is fast approaching an NCAA record. With the 40-15 victory on Friday night, Moore moved ahead of Peyton Manning on the all-time FCS wins list with his 40th victory. Georgia's David Greene and TCU's Andy Dalton are next on the list at 42 while Texas' Colt McCoy holds the record at 45. Moore should have no problems breaking that milestone.
Moore tied a career-high with five touchdown passes in this win. After a slow start, Moore threw three touchdown passes in the first quarter and two in the second half. His best were a throw that turned into a 71-yard score and a one-yard throw to Tyler Shoemaker on a fade in the end zone. He finished 32-of-43 for 455 yards.
The Rockets did lead this game at one point, 6-0, but the feel-good effects from their almost-upset of Ohio State quickly dissipated once Moore got the offense on track.
The 2-0 Broncos host the Tulsa Golden Hurricane next weekend. Kellen Moore can tie Colt McCoy for the record in late October when the Broncos play Air Force.
