Phillies Vs. Rockies: Colorado Has Tall Task Ahead With Roy Halladay Pitching For Philly

The Colorado Rockies enter Wednesday's game hoping to avoid a sweep to the Philadelphia Phillies. A 5-0 shutout to Kyle Kendrick on Tuesday evening may appear to be rock bottom for this series, but on Wednesday the Rockies will face the superhuman Roy Halladay.

Halladay (13-4, 2.44 ERA) has thrown six complete games this season and has 152 strikeouts in 162-1/3 innings this season. His 5.6 fWAR is nearly one whole point better than the nearest competition (Cole Hamels, Clayton Kershaw at 4.7). After a string of starts in July which he allowed two or three runs each time, Halladay is coming off seven shutout innings of one-hit ball against the Pittsburgh Pirates. He missed the Rockies when they were in Philadelphia in May, but he does have one career start in Coors Field. In 2010, Halladay took a no-decision and allowed three runs on 10 hits in 6-1/3 innings.

Jason Hammel will do his best to stop the Phillies. He just picked up a win against the San Diego Padres in his last start after allowing two runs in 6-1/3 innings. It was a recovery from his previous two starts, which saw him allow 14 runs in 10-2/3 innings.

First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 p.m. MT.
