Colorado Rockies Turn To Esmil Rogers On Saturday

The Colorado Rockies were unable to pick up a victory in their first game with the Los Angeles Dodgers, falling to them, 8-2, on Friday night. Jason Hammel gave up six runs in the first three innings while the Rockies' offense was able to score just two runs on Hiroki Kuroda in six innings.

The Rockies will have Esmil Rogers (6-2, 6.00 ERA) on the mound Saturday afternoon, but they will be looking for better things than his Sunday outing against the St. Louis Cardinals. He allowed four runs in five innings on six hits and seven walks. This came after a string of three appearances (two starts) in which he allowed only four runs in 17 innings.

Ted Lilly (7-13, 4.54 ERA) has picked up the loss in his last three starts, but that was due more to his lack of run support than bad pitching. In 21 innings, he allowed just four runs. His offense scored just one run in those starts. On June 11, Lilly allowed one run in five innings for the victory, but his bullpen made him sweat as it allowed six runs over the final two innings of the 11-7 victory.

First pitch is scheduled for 2:10 p.m. MT.
