Broncos DT Ty Warren To Have Surgery, Won't Land On IR

Hopes were high that new Denver Bronco defensive tackle Ty Warren would not have to have surgery after tearing his tricep earlier this week. Unfortunately the Denver Post has now confirmed that the free agent acquisition will need the surgery after all and it will take place on Tuesday.

The good news to come out of the report is that the team will not place the DT on IR, instead hoping that his recovery will be closer to three months instead of the six month period that has initially been suggested. If Warren can indeed return to the field in approximately three months, the team could expect him to contribute sometime in November with the last quarter of the schedule remaining.

Warren's injury leaves Denver extremely thin at the defensive tackle position, an area where the team was hoping to improve from last year. With the other projected starter, Marcus Thomas, also ailing with a strained pectoral, the Broncos are left with Brodrick Bunkley and Kevin Vickerson as the healthy starting options.
