Rockies Vs. Cardinals: Esmil Rogers Looks To End Colorado's Sunday Losing Streak

The Colorado Rockies will play a rare Sunday evening game, and will be broadcast nationally on ESPN. Perhaps it’s exactly what they need to end their 16 week Sunday losing streak. The Rockies have now won a game on Sunday since April 17 against the Chicago Cubs.

Esmil Rogers has been impressive since returning to the Rockies rotation after the absence left by the Ubaldo Jimenez trade, with 16.2 innings pitched and only four earned runs allowed. Rogers has struck out 16 batters and only walked five in that span.

He faces Cardinals pitcher Edwin Jackson, who was one of the players acquired from the Toronto Blue Jays for Colby Rasmus. Jackson has started three games for St. Louis, with mixed results. A week after a disastrous start against the Milwaukee Brewers (where he allowed eight earned runs in seven innings), Jackson pitched six strong innings against the very same Brewers and allowed only two runs.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 pm MDT.
