The Colorado Rockies pitching staff continues to get rocked by injuries, as closer Huston Street has reported to the 15 day Disabled List with a strained tricep. Street , combined with the injury to Matt Lindstrom, leaves the back end of the Rockies bullpen struggling to find enough quality arms. Rafael Betancourt will likely resume closing duties for Colorado with rookie LHP Rex Brothers also available as a late inning arm.
Taking Street’s place on the roster is 1B Jason Giambi, who has been activated off the disabled list after injuring his leg shortly before the trading deadline. Giambi’s return gives the Rockies bench more depth and will allow Wigginton to play more at third base with the demotion of Ian Stewart to AAA earlier this week.
